“If I could devote my life over again, I would devote it to proving that germs seek their natural habitat, diseased tissue–rather than being the cause of the diseased tissue.” - Rudolph Virchow
I remember when, as a new deputy reporting to work the jails, the old salts told me that I would get sick. The facility was a large concrete building with no windows. MAYBE once a week, the inmates would be escorted to the excercise yard on the roof, but for the most part, they were locked inside with no access to sunlight or fresh air. As the old veteran deputies warned me, I came down with a nameless malady we called "Jailhouse Crud"...not fatal...but I felt terrible for weeks.
It was King Solomon who once said, "It is good for the eyes to see the sun." That and fresh air can often do more for what ails you than modern medicine!!!
