“I had a novice’s hunger for history, but also a novice’s inability to envision it.” (Pg 5 Mukherjee, “Emperor Of All Maladies”)
Disclaimer: I love researching and writing about fitness content. More articles coming on Maxalding/or are already here depending on when you see this. In addition to this and due to some tragedies in my life, I also like to go down alternative medicine rabbit holes some of which have benefited my own life. I’m not a medical professional and spend some days scheming in the dark like in the picture above. So if you’re here for fitness posts and are not fond of alternative medicine theories then feel free to ignore posts of this nature. Now on with the show.
I saw this book at half-priced books a few weeks ago and knew I had to get it. The reason is that this book is written by someone who took a deep dive into the history of Cancer. This piqued my interest for this is something I did a little of. The good thing is that this book was only five dollars which was great for me saving my money.
But as I started reading I soon realized what I believe is an issue which is when you are paid to see an issue in a specific light, the likelihood of departing from that perspective is very small. If a different perspective might lead to more problems being solved in the long term but poverty(for oneself) in the short term, why take that risk? This is why I harp on the military-industrial complex from time to time. When one makes money off of war why find a way toward peace?
In addition to this most folks not being paid to think this way are under the assumption that the last hundred or so years of medical science are built on a firm foundation. By a firm foundation, I mean through rigorous research and without bias. But looking into the Flexner Report has placed serious doubts in mind as to the firmness of our medical system’s foundation. The more information placed onto an inaccurate starting point the more unstable the structure becomes.
The instability of this structure will manifest in younger generations having medical issues that previously would be found in older folks. #silveralert
The starting point influences the procedure and the analysis of the data. Down the road, whether that’s decades or centuries one will have all this data but folks rarely go back and ask whether the initial starting point is accurate.
Because of this, I’m skeptical of anything someone from this medical paradigm says because they accept the starting points of this medical system without question. They hear or see a word and because of their education, they have an immediate mental/physical response to that word.
“The Diagnosis of cancer—not the disease, but the mere stigma of its presence—becomes—becomes a death sentence for Rusanov[In “Cancer Ward”] .” (Pg 4 Mukherjee, “Emperor Of All Maladies”)
If I can be honest…
Someone - “Preach Jonathan!!!!!!!”
I do mimic the normie reaction at times not due to the diagnosis but due to fear of what poisonous treatment that person will be given.
My experiences and layman’s research over the past few years have taught me to change my definition of many things…
Fitness
Religion
Politics/Government
Good Food (Sorry, Jimmy Johns is not under this umbrella)
If I became worse from operating off of these different definitions that would be one thing. But at a time in my life that has been the most stressful I’ve been less sick and somewhat more at peace.
There is power in altering our definition of words. We may need it in the future.
