Intro

In one of many videos of a bodybuilder by the name of Mike Mentzer that are on youtube, one has started a fire in me to see what the human body is capable of. In this video he gives the analogy of muscle building/training as digging a hole. Every time you train you dig a hole and the recovery process is you filling in that hole. Muscle growth is the pouring of a mound on top. The dirt takes time to pile up and in this case, it represents the food you eat.

That’s why so many recommendations for building muscle are to be in a caloric surplus giving yourself material(dirt) to create the mound on top.

The reps are the means by which you trigger this process. He stated that he is not aware of a way to get zero reps, which means that you don’t have to do any reps that damage your muscle tissues requiring you to be in a calorie surplus to build that mound on top. You perform a zero reps and BOOM!!!!!! Muscle Growth.

But what if there is a way?

Do to my knowledge of history and some progress I believe there is.
