How I Got To Where I Am (Thank You For Your Service)

The other day I was in a text conversation where someone presented the picture of an election pamphlet on their door. On the back of this pamphlet was a little blurb from a homeless veteran looking for a job and listing off his skills. When one person commented on how they always hear about this problem with homeless veterans the next response from a different individual was something along the lines of, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Yeah that’s crazy since employers seek out veterans”

When I was leaving the military back in 2019 with my degree and with my status as an officer I was told by everybody and their Grandma that I’d be a shoo-in for any job that I applied to. With my love for history, my history degree, and my passion for being a mentor I aimed to become a Highschool teacher.
