I was a fitness fanatic from a young age. I remember my Father coming home from his day of work and after greeting us he’d change and head over to his universal gym machine in the garage to do a workout. I don’t recall the exact model but it was something like this but a little more built up as you could do lat pull-downs and I think squats too.
The constant movement of the weights as I was working on homework or some project was relaxing almost like ASMR. Sometimes I’d try to go into the garage and work the bench press but failed to move even the lighter-weight settings.
Fast forward a few years my parents also bought for themselves one of those Total Gyms that were advertised using Chuck Norris as a figurehead. This machine was also pretty fun to work on.
Later, they would buy me both a pull-up bar for my doorway as well as the Arnold Schwarzenegger (screw your freedoms) Bodybuilding Encyclopedia. The former I could use literally every day but the latter was a bit more tricky as I did not have access to a gym on a regular basis. However, come my sophomore year of high school I could enroll in their weightlifting classes in place of the standard PE classes. Our main focus was the bench press, squat, and power clean but due to time constraints, I could not focus on many of the isolation movements seen in that encyclopedia. I did build up a decent level of strength earning various colors of shirts signifying either the amount of weight you lift(for the bigger guys) or that weight in relation to your body weight(for us smaller stature folk).
Grey Shirt
Red Shirt
Black Shirt
I still have my grey and black shirt but must have lost the red one.
But as I began to realize a week or two off, either due to Christmas or spring break, caused a significant decrease in my strength.
I thought,
“Wouldn’t it be better to train in a way that keeps you strong even without training for a week or two but provides you the convenience to train anytime or anywhere?”
It wasn’t until college and my continuing journey into fitness and afterward did I realized that there is a way. Heck, there are multiple. It is scalable as well. This means you can provide a workout to someone in a nursing home…
…Or holding a job that requires you to be in harm’s way 24/7.
It’s all possible
Once you have accounted for everything attaining fitness and strength is simple. However, the problem is getting to that point which I will help you with. Then you’ll be able to reach new heights.
